The Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum reveals the centuries-old history of the town which was the capital of Wallachia. The museum holds over 14.000 exhibits from historical and archaeological discoveries made in the Argeș area. Among the exhibits, there are cult objects, weapons, jewellery, numismatic collections, documents and bronze statuettes of the rulers of Argeș. Vladislav I established in Curtea de Argeș, in the fourteenth century, the first mint of Wallachia. The numismatic collection of the Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum is a significant one, comprising Dacic, Roman, medieval coins, including coins from the Hungarian king, Carol Robert de Anjou.
