Built between 1960 and 1966 for electricity production, irrigation, and flood prevention, the Vidraru Dam is the tallest dam in Romania, with a height of 166 meters, as well as the largest arch dam in the country. The lake has an area of 1,000 hectares and a volume of 465 million cubic meters.
