About

The "Rudolf Schweitzer Cumpăna" Art Gallery has been operating since 1971 in the building that, until 1970, was the headquarters of the City Hall.
It has a heritage of over 1000 works of classical and contemporary painting and sculpture.

The art gallery was named "Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna" in gratitude for the one who donated 147 works of painting and graphics to his hometown, Pitești - a sign of chosen honoring of his native lands, childhood and adolescence.
The "Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna" Gallery collects and exhibits representative works of classical and contemporary Romanian painting by great artists, such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Theodor Pallady, Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna, Nicolae Tonitza, Camil Ressu, Ștefan Luchian, Ion Țuculescu, Nicolae Dărăscu, as well as sculptures by Gheorghe Iliescu-Călinești, Radu Aftenie, Ion Iancuț, Grigore Patrichi, Adrian Popovici, Ovidiu Maitec.
IMPORTANT:
Currently, the "Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna" Art Gallery is CLOSED for restoration works carried out as part of a large project of the Argeș County Council, with European funding, regarding the valorization of cultural heritage and the development of tourism.
