The Brătianu National Museum

The Brătianu National Museum presents to the visiting public one of the most beautiful boyar domains in Romania. Florica domain, consisting of a mansion, a farm, a chapel, a wine cellar, a station and even an astronomical observer, all located in the middle of a vast park, surrounded by the vineyards of Ștefănești, is the work of Ion and Ionel Brătianu, father and son, who transformed a cosy house of administration of the estate into a sumptuous boyar residence, where important decisions were made regarding our history. The reception room is the largest room in the house, in which the access staircase to the main entrance was preserved in the original, the ceilings carved with the ceramic recessed, the library bodies with the crystal windows and the cherry wood bench. In the mansion there are kept unique exhibits: the bronze bust of Ion I.C. Brătianu, made by Ion Jalea; the wooden stick, belonging to Ion C. Brătianu; the table made of petrified cherry wood, according to a traditional Arabic method; the tuxedo, a glass of baccarat and a portrait, belonging to Dumitru C. Brătianu. Remarkable is also the park arranged around the mansion from Florica, with winding alleys, guarded by trees. Another important component is the church where the members of the Brătianu family are buried. Located on a plateau on the right side of the park, on the edge of the forest, the chapel of the Brătianu family dedicated to the "Birth of Saint John the Baptist" was built in 1898 according to the plans of the French architect Andre Lecomte du Nouy.
